Attractions in Seoul


1. Gyeongbokgung Palace (경복궁)



This was the first royal palace where the Joseon Dynasty’s history began. Before entering the palace, tourists can watch the ceremonies at the gates. Visitors can learn more about history of Korea at the nearby National Palace Museum of Korea (국립고궁박물관).
 
- Fare: Korean citizens: Ages 25-64 3,000 won, Foreigners: Ages 19-64 3,000 won, Ages 7-18 Free

2. Bukchon Hanok Village (북촌 한옥마을)



Between Gyeongbokgung (경복궁) and Changdeokgung Palace (창덕궁), there is Korean traditional houses in which members of the royal family lived during the Joseon period. This well-preserved modern hanok is a popular filming location for TV dramas and movies. We recommend you to find the”Eight Scenic Spots of Bukchon”. Insadong (인사동) is near Bukchon Hanok village and there is Insa-dong Street where visitors can shop for a wide variety of traditional handcrafts.

3. Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP)



Dongdaemun Design Plaza was decorated with every different 40,000 aluminum panels. Various exhibitions are held in this plaza and there are a design museum, sky lounge, rest area and a souvenir shop. There are 25,550 LED roses in the DDP Rose Garden build to celebrate the nation’s 70th year of independence at 2015.

Directions: 2-minute walk from Exit 1 or 2 of Dongdaemun History& Culture Park Station (Subway Line 2, 4 or 5)

4. Hongdae (홍대)



The streets around Hongik University (홍익대학교) are filled with clothing shops, accessory shops, clubs, and theaters, so visitors can enjoy shopping, entertainment, and culture. In playgrounds or vacant lots, indie bands or local dance team often perform. At the Exit 3 or 4 of the Hongdae Station (홍대입구역) You can easily get to Gyeongui Line Forest Park (경의선숲길).

- Directions: 5-minute walk from Exit 9 of Hongik Univ. Station (Subway Line 2)
- Estimated time from Wangshimni Station: 35minutes
 

5. Yeouido Hangang Park (여의도 한강 공원)



This park is popular as a stage for various festivals; Yeouido’s Spring Flower Festival, and for The Seoul International Fireworks Festival. Visitors can take a walk and rent a bike or in-line skates and enjoy chicken and beer with friends and family.
 
- Directions: 2-minute walk from Exit 2 or 3 of Yeouinaru Station (Subway Line 5)
- Estimated time from Wangshimni Station: 40minutes
 

6. Lotte World and Lotte World Tower (롯데월드, 롯데월드타워)



Lotte World is Seoul’s leading amusement park complex which consists of theme park, a folk museum, a ice rink, a shopping mall, a hotel, a department store, etc. Lotte World Tower is the tallest building in the country. It has department stores, movie theaters, aquarium and the largest observation deck in Korea. There is Seokchon Lake Park (석촌호수공원) near these two landmarks. Visitors can relax and stroll along the water.

- Directions: Seokchon Lake Park: 15-minute walk from Exit 2 or 3 of Jamsil Station (잠실역)
- Estimated time from Wangshimni Station: 30minutes
 

7. Namsan Seoul Tower (남산 서울타워)



Visitors can enjoy a complete view of Seoul at Namsam Seoul Tower. It has been a symbol of Seoul since 1980 and have transmission antennas of many radio broadcasting. With the LED technology lighting, it changes colors and patterns constantly.

- Fare: Adults - 10,000 won, Children - 8,000won
- Business Hours: 10:00-23:00 (Sat. 10:00-24:00), Restaurants 11:00-23:00 (Some restaurants: 10:00-22:00)
- Directions: Board Namsam Circular Bus 2,3, or 5, Namsan Cable Car
