LabPhon 17 is co-hosted by UBC and SFU. UBC’s campuses span the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and Syilx (Okanagan) people. SFU’s campuses are located on unceded traditional territories including those of the səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Semiahmoo, Katzie, Kwantlen, Qayqayt and Tsawwassen Nations.

Information for poster presenters

Poster presenters may upload one audio and/or video presentation up to 5 minutes in length, and/or one .pdf document (e.g., a poster, a short set of 3-5 slides, etc.) to the LabPhon 17 Dropbox. They will each be associated with one of four scheduled poster sessions during the regular conference program (between July 6th and July 8th) in which they are asked to be available in an individual online meeting space on the conference platform for live interaction (video and/or chat) with attendees.

Information for oral presenters

Oral presenters may upload one audio and/or video presentation up to 20 minutes in length, and/or one .pdf document (e.g., handout, slides, etc.) to the LabPhon 17 Dropbox. They will be asked to provide a draft of their slides / handout by June 1st (to be shared only with the appropriate thematic discussant) in order to facilitate the discussant’s presentation, though this may be updated before the materials are made generally available to conference attendees.

Information for invited speakers

Invited speakers may upload one audio and/or video presentation up to 40 minutes in length, and/or one .pdf document (e.g., handout, slides, etc.) to the LabPhon 17 Dropbox. They will be asked to provide a draft of their slides / handout by June 1st in order to facilitate the discussant’s presentation, though this may be updated before the materials are made generally available to conference attendees

Please note that everyone visiting Canada must have authorization. If you are a Canadian citizen, Canadian permanent resident, or US citizen, then you are likely already authorized (though you should probably check your status here: https://www.cic.gc.ca/visit-visiter/en/visas). Otherwise, you must have a visa or an eTA as described below.

Childcare

On-campus licensed childcare is available for children 18 months to 5 years during LabPhon 17. The service would be available July 5–9, 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM, at a rate of $20 / hour or a max of $100 / day, including lunch and snacks.
